Sudbury
Mining Week 2004
was celebrated in style from June 13th-19th,
2004.
As an annual event with activities for every age, Sudbury Mining Week
aims to promote mining and its importance to the economy and culture of
Northern Ontario. This community event was sponsored and organized by
the public and private sectors, government, educational institutions and
individuals.

Events:
- May
18th & May 19th
- Dynamic Earth and Sudbury Mining Week partner to present the Mini
Mining Games at Dynamic Earth. Representatives from industry will be
talking to students about various jobs in the industry. Children will
get hands-on experience.
- May
31st to June 4th
- Visits to area high schools by Sudbury Mining Week Committee representatives.
A portable display booth with a rock display, will provide information
about potential careers, Canadian technology, and the geology of the
Sudbury Basin.
- Sudbury
Mining Week 2004, in conjunction with the Mines and Aggregates Safety
and Health Association, is hosting a Poster Contest
for elementary school children.
Theme: Abandoned Mines.
MASHA has produced videos and info packages for teachers, educating
children about the hazards of playing in abandoned mine sites. Winning
entries will be become part of a special 2005 calendar.
- Dynamic
Earth Path of Discovery Tours – five area schools were
selected for this bus tour that explains and shows the regreening of
the Sudbury area.
