About Graduate Studies at
MIRARCO and L.U.
Each year MIRARCO and its centres sponsor and
work with highly qualified Laurentian University Masters and Ph.D.
students to provide innovative research opportunities
in the following disciplines:
Students may be eligible for funding
via scholarships and research assistantships.
NSERC recipients are eligible for a matching research stipend!
MIRARCO provides an excellent research environment for both students
and post-doctoral fellows because of the knowledge that it provides,
as well as its geological setting in the Sudbury Basin, and its
cutting-edge technology. MIRARCO offers many world-renowned supervisors
to students while they complete their thesis research. A number
of grad students stay on with MIRARCO and are key contributors
in helping the company expand.
Laurentian
University provides a unique environment for students
who wish to complete their graduate
studies. LU is a relatively small University in Canada. This
size is of benefit to students, because it allows for close interaction
with professors and easier access to high-tech equipment.
Students who wish to do their thesis research at
MIRARCO can also complete their studies at a cross-appointed University.
Current universities include the University of Alberta, the University
of Toronto, and Queen's University.
