BoHyun Kim obtained his Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. degree in Mineral and Energy Resources Engineering from Chonnam National University in South Korea. He started his career at the Korea Resources Corporation which is one of public enterprise in South Korea, working on site investigation and numerical modelling in underground mines and open pits. In 2005, Dr. Kim joined Geomechanics Research Centre, MIRARCO for his postdoctoral research, entitled "Estimation of rock mass deformation modulus using the stochastic and quantitative approach for the empirical support system by the robust design." Dr. Kim has since 2006 been working in the Geomechanics Research Centre, MIRARCO, where he is currently a Senior Research Engineer.
Dr. Kim has extensive experience in research with special interests in rock mass characterization using photogrammetric method for underground excavation and rock slope design, probabilistic and statistical approaches in rock engineering, robust design and numerical modelling for rock mechanics problems. Dr. Kim is the author of approximately 20 journal and conference papers in the field of rock mechanics.
